<*dv_1*>On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 8th International Symposium on Maritime Health, it is my great pleasure to invite you to attend our conference which will address, with a global perspective, many and varied aspects of the rapidly developing discipline of maritime medicine.

<*dv_0*>The slogan of this meeting will be “Maritime Medicine: A Global Challenge” as the fast growing international trade market, coupled with changes in maritime industry, constituting the challenge for maritime community more than ever.

<*dv_3*>The Scientific Program Committee has endeavoured to design this conference for all who are interested in education, research and service in the field of maritime medicine. This includes physicians, scientists and legislators involved in the protection of the seafarers’ health on the seas all over the world.

<*dv_2*> We look forward to meeting you and hearing your knowledge and ideas. The Scientific Program promises to be challenging and has components for those who are new to maritime medicine as well as the cutting edge contents for those who are highly experienced. A distinguished panel of international experts who are covering many areas of maritime medicine has been invited. “Meet the Expert” sessions will provide an opportunity for informal exchange of ideas between symposium participants and an expert on timely topic while in the workshops we will try together to find some new solutions and improve the health protection of the international sailing community.

We will organize for you a conference in a truly maritime environment of the cruise ship that will give you the opportunity not only to see our host town, the biggest Croatian port - the City of Rijeka, but also our beautiful coast, incredible islands and one of the world’s jewels – the City of Dubrovnik. We are inviting you to enjoy the dynamic life, cultural events, and living traditions of Croatia – a part of the Mediterranean as it once was.
