CHEQUES, CREDIT CARDS, CURRENCY EXCHANGE:

<*dv_1*> Travellers’ cheques and most credit cards (American Express, VISA, Diners, Eurocard/Mastercard) are widely accepted in Croatia. “Bankomat” ATM’s operating day and night can be found throughout the city. The national currency is the KUNA. 1 kn = 100 LIPA (lp). The currency consists of paper notes in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 kn. The coins consist of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 25 kn and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 lp. Most banks in Rijeka and Dubrovnik are open weekdays from 8 AM to 7 PM, and some are open on Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM. Foreign currency is generally not accepted in the hotels, restaurants, and shops. To change money into Croatian Kuna, you must go to the International Money Exchange counter in any bank or hotel, or change it at one of the many authorized foreign exchange dealers in the town. It will be also possible to change money on-board ship. The exchange rate will be posted at the cashier’s desk and it fluctuates daily.

PASSPORT AND VISA

Nationals of most countries need only a valid passport for entry to Croatia. Detailed information can be obtained on www.mvp.hr<*dv_0*> or from the Croatian consular representatives abroad. Participants embarking in Venice, Italy, should check visa regime with Italy on www.esteri.it , or with the Italian Consular representatives in their countries. Delegates, who need official letters of invitation for purposes of applying for visas, may obtain them upon request, from the 8th ISMH Secretariat.
